2/25/2020 0 Comments Too Much Choice?"It will just be a quick trip to the grocery store," I say, grabbing my cart. My kids roll their eyes. First item on the list is toothpaste. I push the cart into the oral hygiene aisle and it smells vaguely like mint and aftershave. I need Arm & Hammer for my eldest, Colgate gel for my husband and Sensodyne for my youngest. I scan the shelves. There must be at least 10 different varieties for each brand name. Is it wintergreen or cool mint that he prefers? Do I get the one that whitens or the one that freshens breathe? Fluoride or Herbal? Organic or not organic? Why don’t they just invent one that does everything?! And which one is on sale? I make another 30 or so choices like this and I'm well on my way to spending some quality time in the grocery store, yet again!
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by all of the decisions you have to make on a daily basis? Truthfully, I am very grateful for the privilege of having choices in my daily life. There is no doubt that having different options contributes positively to our mental health. Studies have shown that having choice and flexibility when we are under stress can modulate how well we cope. However, sometimes, there just seems to be too much choice! Of course, you don't ever have to worry about this at Time for Healing. Did you know that we offer combo sessions? For example, if you can't decide between Indian Head Massage and Reflexology? Then why not try both? The popular "Healing from Head to Toes" package includes 90 minutes of pure relaxation to release tension and help your body bring itself back into balance. A delightful choice!
