Natural home remedies can include some foods that are anti-inflammatory and antioxidant. You may want to try green tea or hot water with turmeric, citrus, kale, broccoli, cranberries, red peppers, red onions, honey, blueberries (just don't eat them all at the same time)! A Reflexology session can also help boost your immune system and there are specific reflexes that can help when you have a cold. For example, the throat reflex is located just under the big toe (see the triangle) and the tonsil reflex is on the inner side of the big toe (see the small circle). You can hold these for 10-20 seconds to help with a sore throat. In many ways we are led to believe that December is the "most wonderful time of the year." This commercialized ideal contributes to our expectations for the perfect holiday. As a result, we often find ourselves running around trying to please everyone. We may end up doing too much or spending time on things that are not so important to us anymore. For people who are experiencing any kind of loss or even if you are just an introvert, the season can be even more challenging. If you have this type of personality, you may want to start the season by thinking carefully about what is truly important to you and prioritize this. Try saying "no" to attending functions that are not essential in December or suggest that you meet friends in January instead when life is a bit quieter. Make sure to actually schedule some downtime to meditate, nap or just chill out with a book and some hot chocolate in front of the fire. This will help to maintain your energy. Consider starting some new traditions and not just doing "it" because you've always done it. Having some time and space for quiet and flexibility in your life can be good for the whole family and chances are it will really be appreciated by the close to 50% of people who are introverts in your life too!
